Gottfried von Einem (1918 - 1996)

Austria’s most important composer in recent years created a musical memorial for Alpbach with the "Alpbacher Tanzserenade". Von Einem created notes and sounds to express his feelings about luck, death and dreams. Von Einem is considered a representative of restrained modernism between neo-classicism and neo-romantic. His pupil B. Blacher was chairman of the arts council of the Salzburg Festival at the Wiener Musikakademie.
