The village of Alpbach

Situated on a stunning sunny plateau with an impressive mountain backdrop, the Green Meeting destination exudes rural charm and genuine warmth. At the same time, the village of 2,600 residents is a cutting-edge international conference and congress location that offers guests countless amenities.
Alpbach, a village steeped in history
Alpbach can look back on a long and varied history. First mentioned in records in the 11th century, the village was strongly dominated by agriculture for a long time. In the 15th and 16th centuries, the mining of copper and silver resulted in an economic boom.
A key milestone for the region was the founding of the European Forum Alpbach in 1945. This annual event with international high-profile guests earned Alpbach the nickname “Village of Thinkers”. To this day, the renowned European Forum Alpbach is held at the CCA and in the entire village.
A charming village concept
The uniform building style and traditional wooden houses make the village of Alpbach unique and unmistakable. Since 1953, thanks to the initiative of former mayor Kommerzialrat Alfons Moser, there has been a strict building code for all new constructions. The result: a uniform, charming villagescape that makes up part of Alpbach’s unmistakable atmosphere.
