The Green Globe certificate recognises tourism businesses that are aware of their moral responsibility towards the environment and their communities and implement appropriate measures within their operations. Congress Centrum Alpbach received its first Green Globe certification in 2010. Green Globe
About 30 years ago, Green Globe was established as a global, independent certification programme for sustainable operations and responsible management in the travel and tourism sector. However, it’s not just hotels and resorts that receive this prestigious award. Thanks to a partnership with the European Association of Event Centres (EVVC), the Green Globe certification is particularly relevant for service providers in the conference and meeting industry.
To be awarded the certification, specific criteria must be met in the following areas:
- environment & location
- sustainable management
- socio-economic factors
- cultural heritage
