Participatio
132 perspectives
To mark the 80th anniversary of the European Forum Alpbach, the art installation PARTICIPATIO was created at the Congress Centrum Alpbach. 132 students from the secondary college HTL Kramsach interpreted the concept of participation in creative ways and designed individual 20 x 20 cm pixels made of glass, ceramics, and metal.
The diverse works combine different perspectives, materials, and forms of expression into a unified whole—symbolizing dialogue, community, and active participation in society.
The artworks were carefully prepared and installed with exceptional craftsmanship to ensure a sustainable and weather-resistant presentation. The result is an installation that visibly embodies innovation, creativity, and meaningful sustainable connections.
HTL Kramsach
For decades, HTL Kramsach has combined creative design with precision craftsmanship and innovative education. The history of the Kramsach campus began as early as 1948 with the Technical School for Glass Technology and Design.
Today, in addition to the four-year technical school, the educational offerings include advanced courses and colleges for architectural design and production, as well as for facade technology, and a secondary college for chemical process engineering. Students in the design programs engage intensively with design, art, technology, and craftsmanship—from the initial idea to the finished product. In addition to working with glass, materials such as metal, ceramics, wood, and plastic also play a central role. Creativity, tolerance, and a passion for one’s own work shape everyday school life just as much as the interplay between traditional craftsmanship and digital production.
All students from the technical school as well as the advanced courses and colleges for object design and production participated in the PARTICIPATIO project, thereby impressively showcasing the school’s diversity and creative strength.
From Idea to Reality
The art project PARTICIPATIO was developed in collaboration with the secondary college HTL Kramsach and the Congress Centrum Alpbach, combining creative education, regional cooperation, and social participation.
Special thanks go to our partners, who contributed their expertise, creativity, and dedication to the realization of PARTICIPATIO:
The final installation was carried out in collaboration with the company Ertl Glas, Amstetten, which created the weather-resistant display structure, and Felix Wallenborn, a metal fabrication specialist from Alpbach, who designed and constructed the steel frames for the installation.
The project is supported by the municipality of Alpbach and the Alpbachtal Tourism Association, which are thereby sending a strong signal for regional cooperation, cultural promotion, and a vibrant community.
