History

Name origin

Monsignor Iginio Rogger (born in 1919 in Pergine, passed away in 2014 at the age of 94) was a priest and scholar, and one of the most significant figures in the modern historiography of the Episcopal Church of Trent. We owe him fundamental new insights into the diocesan saint Vigilius, Blessed Adelpret, Simonino of Trent, the Council of Trent, as well as the regional history of the last century. He pursued these with a sharp, critical eye and a commitment to objectivity, actively shaping the discourse. In doing so, Rogger became one of the most prominent figures of historical memory in modern Trentino.
